This week is our last week of the quarter, and an extremely busy one for SEAOC.
We start this Wednesday afternoon with a tour of Area 52. Those of you attending should have already received an email from me over the weekend. Remember to arrive at 3:15 (I assume we'll meet near the entrance between math and science and agriculture).
This Thursday we will also be having a meeting. Michelle Kam-Biron, SE, Senior Technical Director at WoodWorks, and Grace S. Kang, SE, Principal at Forell/Elsesser Engineers, Inc will be presenting "Structural Engineering from Two Perspectives." The structural engineering profession has facets which include the private, public, industry, and academic sectors. Two perspectives will be illustrated with case studies, and the importance of being involved in the profession beyond the office environment will also be discussed.
This is going to be an excellent presentation from two highly accomplished structural engineers and we are lucky to have them. Woodworks is also graciously sponsoring our lunch, so expect something new this week.
And finally, but most certainly not least, this Friday evening is our End of the Quarter Party (EOTQP) at Slo Brew downtown. We have the lounge reserved beginning at 6:30, and we hope to have food coming out by 7. As always, this is a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE event. We only budget for about 65 dinners, so plan to arrive early if you want a spot. You can always order food yourself if you can't make it at that time, but you'll have to foot your own bill. I want to remind everyone that this event is open to ALL SEAOC MEMBERS regardless of year, so don't be afraid to come out even if you're under 21 (our reservation lasts until 10pm, at which time anyone under the age of 21 will have to leave.) I hope to see most of you there!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I've had a great quarter working with all of you and I've got a lot of big plans for when we get back from the break!
