Hey SEAOC! This Thursday will be our first meeting of the quarter. We're starting things off with two weeks of nominations and elections. This week each officer will give a quick presentation on their duties. Afterwards we'll do our first round of nominations. You can send me nominations through the next week as well. Then next Thursday, April 5th, we'll be holding the actual elections, so have your speeches ready! As always, we'll be providing a delicious lunch. This is a great way to get more involved in the club and the department, so consider being an officer next year! See you all Thursday, Laura Hey SEAOC! This Thursday is our last meeting of the quarter. Craig Baltimore will be presenting Earthquake Swarm. As always we'll be in A-lab at 11 am and lunch will be provided. Come out for a great talk and a chance to spend one more Thursday together before finals. Mark your calendars!! The End of the Quarter Party will be next Friday, March 9th at SLObrew. I'll send out an email with more details next week. See you Thursday, Laura This Thursday at SEAOC! 02/08/2012
Hey everyone, This Thursday Jan Dougalas from KPFF will be speaking on the industry and professionalism. Jan has great inside knowledge to the ins and outs of interviewing and hiring in the built environment and she's excited to share this with all of us as we get closer to Forum and graduation for some. KPFF has generously agreed to sponsor this week's lunch, so be sure to show up for something special. Just a reminder that if you haven't had a chance to sign up for Forum please see Melissa in the office to get your name on the list. The cost is $25 for members and $35 for non members. See Kyle Welsh with any questions. See you all Thursday! Laura SEAOC this Thursday! 01/25/2012
This week Mark Haselton (the namesake of Haselton Lab) will be visiting to speak about some of the projects that Continental Concrete Structures Inc. has designed over the years. This will be a great presentation from a distinguished alumni, so be sure to attend. We're also having a new food item this week, so get there early! As always, we'll be in A-lab at 11 am on Thursday. **REMINDER** If you weren't able to make it to Structural Forum sign ups last week, we'll be doing sign ups again after this week's meeting. I really want to encourage ALL ARCE students to attend forum as we have a large number of companies this year and it is a great networking experience whether you're a freshman or a grad student. See you all there! Laura SEAOSC Job Fair 01/18/2012
SEAOC This Thursday! 01/04/2012
Hey ARCEs! Welcome back! We had a great quarter in fall and I'm excited to get the ball rolling on winter quarter with a presentation this Thursday. Florian Barth, past president of the American Concrete Institute and Co-Chair of the Joint Sustainability Initiative, will be speaking on sustainable concrete and the future of the concrete industry as it relates to structural engineering. In continuing with my goal to bring in speakers that represent the many different trades that we can enter as graduated ARCEs, I'm excited to have Mr. Barth here to show another career choice. As always we'll meet in A-lab at 11am and lunch will be served. I'm excited to see most of you there! Laura **REMINDER** If you haven't signed up for SEAOC yet but want to, IT'S NOT TOO LATE! Come to this Thursday's meeting and find me or any other officer and we'll give you the necessary forms to become a member. Structural Forum 12/23/2011
